Healing and Growth Through Creativity and Community
Healing and Growth Through Creativity and Community
Peace By Piece Art is a registered charity located in Perth, Western Australia that offers a unique and complementary approach within the field of mental health and trauma recovery. We offer community-based creative and experiential programs for wellbeing, guided by trauma-aware practices, not clinical therapy. We believe that "mental illness", in the context of trauma is not a disease, but a natural response to overwhelming distress when we lack the ability to cope. Our goal is to facilitate accessible, transformative healing that goes beyond symptom management and crisis intervention, reducing pressure on crisis services and giving people the tools to reclaim their well-being.
Peace By Piece Art offer creative and somatic art experiences - with trauma-informed principles - that complement, but do not replace, clinical psychological care. This approach bridges the gap in accessible mental health care by creating a supportive environment where individuals can explore and process their emotions in a non-verbal and gentle manner.
We offer a welcoming creative space with optional links to professional support available through external referral when needed. Our sessions are designed to help participants build capability and develop coping mechanisms, resilience, and self-compassion — key components for long-term mental health management. We currently offer workshops and sessions facilitated by peer workers, art and somatic therapists at various venues.
Our future plans include securing a purpose-built studio that includes a café and gallery. Here, individuals can work on creative projects, undertake classes, display art, and even have the opportunity to display or sell their creations. This multifaceted environment supports both creative expression and community engagement, enhancing the overall therapeutic experience.
Peace by Piece is a registered Australian charity with Deductible Gift Recipient status.
